ATLANTA — NASA has postponed the launch of its Black Brant XII sounding rocket for a second time to no earlier than Monday.

It was initially scheduled to launch Saturday but the launch was scrubbed due to high upper-level winds. On Sunday, a second launch attempt was also scrubbed.

The launch is now set for 8:04 p.m. Monday from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

If the launch is a success on Monday, the rocket may be visible in Georgia.

“A four-stage Black Brant XII rocket will be used for the mission that includes the release of barium vapor that will form two green-violet clouds that may be visible for about 30 seconds,” NASA said. The barium vapor is not harmful to the environment or public health.”

The vapor will be released approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds to around 10 minutes after launch over the Atlantic Ocean.

The mission is studying how energy and momentum are transported between different regions of space that are magnetically connected.
