NASA rocket launch will be visible from New York City this week - New York Post

New Yorkers who missed the recent solar eclipse will still be able to catch something streaking across the sky this week, NASA says.

A rocket set to launch from the space agency’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia at 7 a.m. Tuesday will be visible on the East Coast, including in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, NASA said

“Get up early June 15, grab a cup of coffee and watch the rise of Northrop Grumman’s Minotaur 1 rocket as it’s launched into space,” NASA wrote in a news release.

The rocket’s fiery streaks should be visible from the Big Apple about 30 to 60 seconds after lift-off, it said.

The Northrop Grumman Corporation’s rocket will be carrying three national-security payloads for the National Reconnaissance Office, an agency that manages satellites for the Department of Defense, NASA said.

The US Space Force Space and Missile Systems Center’s Launch Enterprise will be coordinating the launch.

In case outdoor viewing isn’t feasible, NASA will be providing a livestream of the launch starting at 6:30 a.m. on the Wallops YouTube page, it said. There also will be launch updates posted on the Wallops Facebook and Twitter pages.
