Heavenly view: Astronaut shares images of Cleveland from International Space Station - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Shane Kimbrough enjoys a unique view of the world.

Kimbrough, an astronaut, currently is orbiting the Earth as the commander of the NASA SpaceX Crew-2 mission to the International Space Station.

On Thursday, Kimbrough took to Twitter to share a few images of Cleveland taken from the space station. The pictures offer a clear view of downtown Cleveland and also of Hopkins International Airport, with Kimbrough pointing out that the NASA Glenn Research Center can be seen near the airport.

He also said he has a clear view into FirstEnergy Stadium and Progressive Field. See the tweet here.

Meanwhile, if you want to get a view of the space station, it will pass over Cleveland at 9:15 p.m. today. It will be in view for about two minutes, appearing 10 degrees above the horizon to the north-northwest.

If you miss it tonight, it again will pass over at 8:27 p.m. Saturday and will be viewable for four minutes. It will appear 10 degrees above the northwest horizon. On Sunday, it will appear at 9:17 p.m. for two minutes, but will be viewable for four minutes Monday at 8:30 p.m.

That’s assuming skies are clear ... and unfortunately, forecasts are calling for mostly cloudy conditions nearly every night through Monday.
